Typography: Inappropriate

The Brief
To create a piece of typography on the theme 'Inappropriate'

Solution
I wanted to concentrate on an area that has strict codes of conduct as this is where inappropriateness comes into being. Religion is a subject that it is very easy to be inappropriate with, being full of long practised traditions and strongly held beliefs. This piece of typography is based on the grid-structure of holy texts and is presented in the shape of the upright cross. The text describes the sanctity of the Christian cross but in order to read it it must be turned upside down ('inverted'). This seemingly innocuous action turns the precious symbol of Christian faith into a symbol for Satanism.
